Powerhouse tennis duo set sights on city's tournament for next season

London : The world's top-ranked pair of Canada's Daniel Nestor and Serbia's Nenad Zimonjic have confirmed Dubai as one of their targets for the next season.

"Yes we will basically play the same sort of schedule next year starting off with Doha, Sydney and Melbourne followed by Rotterdam, Dubai, Indian Wells and Miami," Nestor told media after securing their first win at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Reflecting on the recently concluded season, the 37-year-old Canadian was pleased with the way things went for them during the year. As the defending champions, Nestor and Zimonjic came here for the season finale with an ATP World Tour-best of 11 finals, highlighted by their repeat title performance at Wimbledon and five ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crowns in Monte Carlo, Rome, Madrid, Cincinnati and Paris.

In three of these, except for Madrid and Paris, they defeated their arch-rivals, the Bryan twins, in the finals. After an 11-6 start in the first three months of 2009, they compiled a 12-match winning streak on clay with consecutive titles in Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Rome. "It was a great year and we hope to have a similar success next year as well," Nestor said.

But the Canadian, who earned $1 million (Dh3.6 million) in a year for the first time in 2009, also suggested what they had to do as a pair to go a step further.

Consistency

"I think we need to have a little more consistency," he said. "We won a lot of tournaments, but we lost a lot of first round matches. We'd like to be a little more consistent and win every tournament we play," Nestor said.

Looking at the amazing set-up and the crowd participation for this competition at the O2 Arena, the pair was disappointed that they had to depart early.

"It's a great venue and an unbelievable stadium," Zimonjic added.
