Jankovic: I feel the need for a good coach
World No 4 Jelena Jankovic no longer wants to travel alone on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.
Dubai: World No 4 Jelena Jankovic no longer wants to travel alone on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.
"I feel the need to have a good knowledgeable coach who will help me reach my full potential as a tennis player," Jankovic told media after her semifinal loss to world number two Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia at the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships.
Jankovic, who is next headed for India to play in the Bangalore Open this week, did well to fight her Russian opponent in front of a partisan crowd before going down in three sets on Thursday.
Jankovic does not have any full-time coach at the moment. Her mother travels with her sometimes, but this time her brother has accompanied her to Dubai. However, she also has a hitting partner and part-time coach with her here.
"I travel with a hitting partner and he has done a great job to help me be where I am at this moment," Jankovic acknowledged.
"However, I know that I am capable of reaching much higher and achieving much more. This can only be done if I can get a new coach who will tell me what I need to do to fulfil my potential in tennis," Jankovic stated.
"At this juncture I am willing to listen to someone who will tell me where I need to improve so as to take my game to the next level.
"I do not want to stay in this position forever, I want to move up and take a step forward in my career, and to achieve that, I need someone who can help me achieve this," Jankovic insisted.
