Al Janahi heads for double in Open tennis

UAE youngster Fahad Al Janahi was headed towards a double when he entered the semifinals of the boys under-10 and under-12 at the 25th UAE Open Tennis Championships.

Dubai: UAE youngster Fahad Al Janahi was headed towards a double when he entered the semifinals of the boys under-10 and under-12 at the 25th UAE Open Tennis Championships.

Al Janahi got a walkover from Pierre Van in the boy's under-10, while he secured a hard-fought 7-6, 6-3 win over Mohammad Al Fardan in the boy's under-12 competition.

Al Janahi will play Abdullah Ahli in the under-10 semifinals, while he will take on top seed Chase Paul in the under-12. In the lower half of the under-10 draw, Kareem Aleef will meet second seeded Alexey Poperin in the semifinal, while Poperin will take on Arjuna Kumar in the under-12. This tournament is the fifth round on the 2008 UAE National Rankings Series being held under the auspices of Tennis Emirates.
