Dubai: Hamad Abbas Al Janahi and Faisal Bastaki combined to enter the under-18 doubles final at the GCC Tennis Championships at the Fujairah Tennis and Country Club.

Al Janahi and Bastaki, who were scheduled to play in the singles semifinals later yesterday, teamed up to defeat the Kuwaiti duo of Ziad Hussain and Mohammad Al Shatti 6-0, 6-3.

The top-seeded UAE team will now meet another Kuwaiti combination of Hassan Al Moosa and Fahad Wadani.

Al Moosa and Wadani got past the UAE pairing of Rashid Bushaqar and Khalid Al Hassani 6-1, 6-2.

In the boys' under-18 singles, the seeds lived up to expectations with Al Janahi leading the pack into the semifinals with a clinical finish against Saudi Arabia's Zaki Abdullah.

He was to face Ziad Hussain in the first semifinal, while teammate and third seed Faisal Bastaki was to take on second seed Hassan Al Moosa.

The UAE challenge came to an end in the under-14 competition with none of their players progressing to the semifinals.

Abdul Rahman Al Janahi, the lone UAE face in the singles semifinals, fell at the hands of Moosa Shehali of Qatar 6-0, 6-1.

Shehali will meet top seed Mohammad Redha following the Kuwaiti's 6-1, 6-4 win against Eman Mohammad of Bahrain.
