More than 50 boats will assemble for the opening round of 4th UAE National Championships kicks off at the Jebel Ali Sailing Club [JASC] this weekend.

Sailors from the home club will be joined by competitors from the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club [DOSC] Emirates Sailing School [ESS], the Dubai International Marine Club [DIMC] and Abu Dhabi Sailing Club [ADSC].

"We are really thrilled with the response this event has generated so far," said Sharon Allison, the Administration Manager and Principal at JASC.

The event is sponsored by Insure Direct Brokers LLC.

Managing Director, Ken Maw said 'Sailing has become so popular in Dubai, that it was an honour to be asked to sponsor this national event.'

"We expect a very competitive racing weekend," said JASC Commodore Ramsey Assal.

"It is the best platform to have UAE national sailors and some of the best expatriate sailors competing together," he added.

The day's programme will commence with the briefing of sailors at 2 pm on Thursday, and will be followed by two races.

There will be another four races on Day 2.

The next round will be held on April 28-29, while the season will conclude with the third and final round at the DIMC on June 16-17.
