“It’s being held indoor on a state-of-the-art UEFA approved artificial surface. It will provide a great opportunity for rugby lovers to compete in a fun filled environment,” said Gareth Bacon, Academies Development Coordinator.

“It’s being held to International Touch Standards and sanctioned by the UAE Touch Association. “The facility is fantastic and just to get the participants out of the heat will be a reward in itself. We are very luck to have such a wonderful facility at our disposal and we thoroughly hope the teams enjoy it,” he added.

Looking ahead and providing details about the future plans, he said: “The goal is to expand. If we didn’t think it could grow there wouldn’t be much point in planning for it. We plan to launch this as a quarterly event and feel that it will be very well received. We will even start to look at the potential of women only and youth only events.”
