Victory Team celebrates second successive title
The Dubai-based Victory Team was left celebrating their second successive world Class One crown on Saturday.
Dubai: The Dubai-based Victory Team was left celebrating their second successive world Class One crown on Saturday.
"It couldn't have been better than this...we have successfully defended the title we won last year, and that too by taking the first and second positions in our home grand prix," Gian Franco Venturelli, Team Manager of the Victory Team told Gulf News.
"Our plan was to go out there and bring in both the boats safe with the points we needed to win the world title. We not only achieved that, but we also proved the reliability of our engines," Venturelli added.
Victory 1 driver Mohammad Al Merri made his experience count as he guided the boat along with Nader Bin Hendi.
"It's all about teamwork, and today we have once again proved that we have the best set up in Class One racing," said Al Merri.
"Yes, this has been an amazing amount of hard work from the entire team, from the mechanics to the management. Winning a world title is a dream for me," added Bin Hendi.
Khalfan Hareb, Victory Team's Managing Director promised more for next week's Dubai Duty Free - Emirates Grand Prix, the eighth and final round of the 2008 UIM/WPPA Class One World Powerboat Championship.
