Dubai: Young UAE duo Al Mur Mohammad Bin Huraiz and Khalifa Bel Selah will be flying the SkyDive Dubai banner and hoping to make an international splash when they participate in the Nordic Sea Championships on Saturday and Sunday.

Scheduled to be held on the picturesque Nordic Sea in Sweden, the two UAE riders are hoping for a series of strong races as part of their preparations for the third and final round of the IJSBA European Jet Ski Championships to be held in Doncaster, England from August 16-18.

After going through gruelling practice sessions at the Umm Suqueim Beach despite fasting during Ramadan, Bin Huraiz and Bel Saleh are primed to give their best after arriving in Sweden on Friday.

After the two-day competition, they will travel with their support team straight to England for their next event.

“The idea behind travelling to Sweden is two-fold. First we want to make the presence of Dubai as candidate city for Expo 2020 felt in the Scandinavian part of Europe, and secondly we want our riders to get some vital competition before the prestigious European Championships to be held the following weekend,” said Huraiz Bin Huraiz, manager of the SkyDive Dubai Jet Ski Team, who will be travelling with the duo.

Al Mur Mohammad Bin Huraiz and Bel Selah will join competitors from all over Europe in battling it out for podium finishes when the Euro Jettribe Tour’s Jet Ski Championships, organised by the International Jet Sport Racing Association, is held at Doncaster Lakeside.

Al Mur Mohammad Bin Huraiz will participate in the Pro Ski GP Class, while Bel Selah will be one of the competitors in the Pro Runabout Class.

“The objective of this competition will be to give our riders experience of international racing. I am optimistic both of them can end up with podium places in Sweden. And if they keep their poise they are capable of even winning their respective classes,” Huraiz Bin Huraiz said.

The Nordic Sea event will feature numerous races in various classes throughout the two days of competition, which have attracted nearly 100 teams mostly from Europe. Expected to be among the high-profile competitors is the current UK, European and world champion James Bushell before he heads home for next week’s final round of the European Championships.

“We need to commend these two young riders for their courage in competing under such testing conditions against some of the best in the business. Our intention is to give them the ideal platform to fly the UAE and SkyDive Dubai flag by participating in such prestigious competitions,” Huraiz Bin Huraiz added.
