Super Run Series names this year's winners

Hailed a great season of races with many previous athletes returning and new faces entering the events

Dubai: Emma Phillips of Abras AC and Rawab Al Habari of Jumeirah were crowned overall women's and men's champions in the 8km Super Run Series.

In the 4km race, the overall women's honours went to 13-year-old Carmen Fourie of Abras AC and Chris Williams of Fitness O2 walked away with the men's title at the annual Super Sports events prize-giving held last week.

The Zoggs Aquathlon Series Super Sprint category (2.5km run followed by 400 metres) was dominated by juniors with 12-year-old Elizabeth Hancock of Dubai Leander topping the rankings on the women's side, while 11-year-old Harris M Carvel of Hamilton Aquatics did himself proud in the men's competition.

In the Sprint category (5km run followed by 800-metre swim), Julia Townsend of Dubai Masters Swim Club was awarded the top position and Tim Cambell of Lend Lease secured the men's prize.

Claire Nicholson and Nicholas Tipper of Tribe Racing swept the top spots in the Olympic distance (10km run followed by 1,600-metre swim) of the Aquathlon.

In the Zoggs Mina Mile Open Water Swim Series, it was the Speedo duo of Rosa Smith and Tommaso Manetti being crowned champions in the girls and boys 200 metres while Sarah de Maaker and Shresht Prakash made it a double for Active Sports in the 400 and 800 metre events respectively. Channa van Englen, aged 18, of Dubai Masters Swim Club secured the ladies 1,600-metre swim title while 16-year-old Chris Allan of Hamilton Aquatics took the honours in the men's section.
