Organised by Super Sports, the championship has attracted a total of 233 athletes from across the world with Great Britain and South Africa heading the list of entries with 75 and 73 respectively. "Everyone has been pleased with the venue and the course setting here. All the athletes have had a good two days of training sessions and they are all set to go for some exciting competition," aid Warren van der Merwe, Managing Director, Super Sport.

Co-hosted by the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC), the 12th UIPM Biathle World Championships 2010 consists of a swim in-between two legs of running.

While for the junior categories the run is normally over 500 metres along with a 50 metres swim in-between, the seniors normally do a kilometre of running on either side of a 100 metres swim.
