Dubai: Our Own High School, Al Warqa'a piped Abu Dhabi Indian School by one point to emerge as the overall champions of the 16th Our Own Dubai Inter School Athletic Meet at the Dubai Police Stadium on Tuesday.

Our Own High School, Al Warqa'a piped Abu Dhabi Indian School by one point to emerge as the overall champions of the 16th Our Own Dubai Inter School Athletic Meet at the Dubai Police Stadium on Tuesday.

Going into the last event of the meet, Abu Dhabi Indian High School led the points tally with 341 points, closely followed by Our Own with 336 points.
Visakh Vijayakumar, of Our Own, steered his school to victory in the 4x100m relay with a record breaking time of 45.84sec.
He went on to win the prestigious Best Athlete of the Meet award in the super seniors category and also bag the UAE Athletic Federation's medal for the most outstanding athlete.
His victory gave Our Own twenty points while Abu Dhabi Indian School finished second in the relay giving them only 14 points.
Our Own School finished on top with 356 points pushing Abu Dhabi Indian School to second place with 355 points.
Dubai Modern High School finished third with 195 points.

The athletic meet was of such a high-standard that nine records were shattered.
The most outstanding athletes in various categories were - Sub Juniors: Mohammad Zaryan Khan of Our Own High School, Al Warqa'a with 22 points.
Juniors: Kuldeep Kumar of Own High School, Al Warqa'a with 30 points.
Inters: Munif Mohammad Mahim of Dubai Modern High School with 35 points.
Seniors: Jeswin J.Paul of Abu Dhabi Indian school with 30 points.
Super Seniors: Visakh Vijayakumar of Our Own High School Al Warqa'a with 27 points
Over 750 athletes from 16 schools in the UAE took part in the meet.

Shot put (seniors): Jesvin Raj (Abu Dhabi Indian School) 12.34m. Previous record: 11.55m
Triple jump (super seniors): Ashik Ashok (Our Own Al Warqa'a) 13.16m. Previous record: 12.56m.
Javelin (super seniors): Harsimran Singh (ADIS) 42.34m. Previous record: 42.33m
100m (juniors): Kuldeep Kumar (Our Own Al Warqa'a) 12.97 sec. Previous record: 13.47sec.
200m (juniors): Kuldeep Kumar Our Own Al Warqa'a 27.62sec. Previous record: 28.57sec.
