The curtain comes down on Dubai Sports World (DSW) this weekend but not before a charity campaign comes to a successful conclusion. Technogym, who have installed gym equipment worth Dh1 million in DSW and have successfully completed the ‘one million moves’ at the gym will now donate a set of Technogym Easy Line equipment to a local school together with the support of Dubai Sports Council.
Let’s Move for A Better World - a campaign dedicated to promoting movement and fighting sedentary lifestyles was aimed at encouraging visitors of DSW to become more active with the added social cause of giving back to their local community. The visitors competed in Let's Move for a Better World and the users of the gym area accumulated MOVEs (Technogym's metric of movement) by exercising on cardio equipment.
Technogym had set a target of one million moves and if achieved during the allotted time of the campaign, would donate a set of Technogym Easy Line equipment to a local school. Mohammad Al Moussa, Trade Marketing Manager, Technogym Emirates LLC told XPRESS: “The idea was to get people moving in whichever way they could. The sedentary lifestyle that people lead here causes problems like obesity and diabetes and we wanted to raise awareness and give something back to society.”
Among Technogym’s clients are well-known fitness centres like Fitness First and Gold’s Gym. “We provide very specialized equipment and even our cardio-screens are android based. We are the only gym company that operated at DSW. We had clients from all walks of life using our equipment,” Al Moussa added.
The decision on which local school Technogym will donate to will be taken after a meeting with the Dubai Sports Council.
