Dubai: It's a matter of pride and honour for Shaikha Maitha Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum as she was chosen to carry the UAE flag at the Beijing Games next month.

"Nothing can quite compare to that feeling that passes through me," Shaikha Maitha said.

"I feel so proud to be chosen to carry the flag of my country. Holding the flag gives me so much inspiration and brings out the best in me," she added.

In the past, she has carried the UAE flag at every international and regional competition that she has participated in.

After attending the opening ceremony on August 8, Shaikha Maitha may either proceed to Korea or continue staying in China to continue with her preparations for her event at the Olympic Games.
