Break of 48 points helps win second frame and as his domination continues in the third

Dubai: The young and talented Khalid Kamali brought Englishman Daren Taylor's giant-killing run to a halt with a fine 4-0 victory in the last-16 of the ENOC UAE Snooker Ranking Circuit's second event at Dubai Snooker Club on Thursday night.

However, another young player, Abdul Rahman Saif, runner-up at the last event and seeded No 2 this time, lost to a confident Ahmad Shehab, who moved into the quarter-finals following a 4-2 victory.

Saif Al Kitbi marched into the quarter-finals after recording a 4-1 win over veteran Altaf Noor Ali Rashid and Humaid Darmaki handed former Egyptian international Hani Hosni a 4-1 defeat.

Taylor's immaculate safety did not work against Kamali on Thursday night.

Kamali was cautious in the beginning of the match but after capturing the first frame, he started applying pressure.

A break of 48 points proved enough to win him the second and his domination of the match continued in the third as well.

Kamali then produced a riveting break of 98 that missed Mohammad Shehab's highest break mark by just a point. However, the effort carried him to a 4-0 whitewash and a place in the quarter-finals.

Kamali was to face Al Kitbi in the last 8 round on Friday night.

Darmaki's victory over Hosni was not easy.

Every frame was keenly contested. It all boiled down to Darmaki's resolve and ability to keep his cool.

The final is on Monday at 5pm.
