Indian Olympic hero Bindra gets new wheels from Volvo
India's only individual gold medal winner at the Beijing Olympics, shooter Abhinav Bindra, was yesterday gifted a Volvo car worth Rs3.9 million by the Swedish car manufacturer.
Chandigarh, India: India's only individual gold medal winner at the Beijing Olympics, shooter Abhinav Bindra, was yesterday gifted a Volvo car worth Rs3.9 million by the Swedish car manufacturer.
The keys of the Volvo S-80 car were handed over to Bindra at a ceremony here by Volvo-India managing director Paul de Voijs.
"I am grateful to the company for honouring me with this car," Bindra said.
Incidentally, Bindra's industrialist father AS Bindra was the first person to buy a Volvo car when the Swedish car manufacturer started direct sales in India last year.
Volvo chose Chandigarh to launch its cars in India given the craze among customers in Punjab and Chandigarh of buying high-end luxury cars.
