Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, has in his capacity as President of Al Nasr Club, ordered that an honorary body be established to help with the club's many functions.
The group will be headed by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, and will include a number of the club's prominent members and fans, who will together play a prominent role in all future meetings and initiatives.
Shaikh Hamdan has also ordered that a legislative framework be set, defining the rights and liabilities of the body's members.
In April, he ordered the establishment of a new board of directors for the club, which is up and running and being chaired by founder and former chairman of the A1 Grand Prix of Nations Shaikh Maktoum Bin Hasher Al Maktoum.
Shaikh Maktoum last week revealed the club will endeavour tirelessly to establish a "club culture" that will ensure fan loyalty in all disciplines, not just soccer.
"Our goal is to popularise sport," Shaikh Maktoum said.
