Fernando finishes on top in jiu-jitsu competition
Wins Open category even as UAE and Bahraini fighters also impress.

Abu Dhabi: Brazilian Luiz Fernando was the toast of the crowd in the Emirates Cup Jiu-Jitsu Championship in which the fighters from the UAE and Bahrain also impressed.
In an all-Brazilian final in the Open category, Fernando got the better of Pablo Leite to make it a memorable double win.
Earlier, Fernando had also won the over-97 kg category defeating the UAE's Ameen Touati in the one-day competition being held under the patronage of Shaikh Zayed Bin Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
For Brazilian Leite, it was second-time unlucky as he also finished second in his weight category, losing to the UAE's Waleed Mohammad.
Waleed and Hassan shine
Waleed and Hassan Mousa were the two gold medal winners for hosts UAE while Bahrain also chipped in with two wins through Reza and Abdullah Al Shaikh.
Former world Brazilian Jiu Jitsu champion Carlos Santos, the event organiser, said the championship witnessed some skilful tussles and praised the rise in standard of the UAE nationals.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Shaikh Zayed Bin Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Sultan Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan and Abdullah Nasser Al Jaabari, representing the sponsors.
