Farooq cruises into division one squash final

Ahmad Farooq stormed into the division one final of the 3rd Sheraton-Al Ghazal Transport Abu Dhabi Squash Open following his victory over Hesham Fergani here at the Sheraton Hotel and Resort.

Abu Dhabi: Ahmad Farooq stormed into the division one final of the 3rd Sheraton-Al Ghazal Transport Abu Dhabi Squash Open following his victory over Hesham Fergani here at the Sheraton Hotel and Resort.

The unseeded teenager, who sent the top seeded Hisham Hassan packing out in the second round, won 15-7 15-13 13-15 15-5. He will meet the winner of the second semifinal between Adel Samir and Martin Tomlins, the second and third seeds.

Moin Ahmad used his superior fitness to overcome a gritty Mabrouk Al Nahdy in a marathon five games to reach the division two final. The UAE shuttle champion won 15-9 13-15 15-12 16-17 15-10. Mubarak Mohsin claimed the Junior Under-15 title with a comfortable win over Shobaith Gupta 15-5 15-6 15-9. Mohsin Mosa went down to Saqib Rafi in straight games 15-9 15-8 15-10 in the super division.

Faheem Khan beat Tomlins 15-11 15-12 4-15 15-9 in another match of the same division. In a division three quarter final, Mohammad Yassin got the better of Antoun Ghanem 15-7 15-14 15-9 and Harold Shim overcame Ron Gear 15-4 15-12 15-12.

Nigel Millins sent Chris Grant packing in division one plate quarterfinal 15-8 15-14 14-15 15-6 Mazen Selawi downed Mahmoud Abu Attah 15-11 15-9 13-15 15-8 and Yousuf Al Ameri outclassed Mark Griffin 17-15 15-7 15-8.
