Dubai: The inaugural ‘Dubai Runs' was a huge success with close to 6,000 people turning up at the Al Mamzar Park area last weekend.

Organised in line with the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, the event attracted people from all walks of life.

‘Dubai Runs' was the fourth and final stage of the Dubai Sports Council's ‘Dubai Pulse' held all over the emirate to encourage people from all walks of life to keep a healthy lifestyle.

The ‘Dubai Pulse' programme was launched by the DSC last October to encourage the multi-national residents of Dubai to step out into the open and enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

‘Dubai Pulse' included swimming, walking cycling and running that was held last weekend. The programme was launched to implement and activate the fourth objective of the strategic plan from the DSC which stipulates "increasing the level of social awareness with the importance of sport via establishing efficient strategic partnerships and common work programmes that deal with health and education sectors".
