Al Ain to host equestrian event

Opportunity for riders to prepare for Arab League qualifications

Al Ain: A show jumping competition will be organised in Al Ain on December 25 and 26.

The event is being organised for the first time in Al Ain under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nah-yan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Finance Department and Chairman of the Palm Sports Resort in Al Ain.

The Equestrian Department is organising the event in cooperation with the UAE Equestrian Federation.

The competition will start at 2.30pm on Friday, involving all the categories of Show Jumping Riders in the UAE (D, C, A and B). The heights of the fences will range from 95cm to 130cm.

Lucrative prizes

The organising committee will present lucrative cash prizes to the winners totalling Dh35,000.

This event will be followed by other competitions on February 26-27, March 19-20 and April 22-24. More than 200 competitors of various ages, including the best riders in the country, will participate in these competitions.

This competition represents a valuable opportunity for the riders to prepare for the Arab League qualifications to be conducted in January 2010 and hosted by Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah for the International World Cup Qualifiers.
