Al Ain joins Superleague Formula

Al Qudra Holding on Saturday announced a Two million euros deal which will enable Al Ain Sports Club to become the first and only delegate of the UAE and the Gulf region in the inaugural Superleague Formula championship.

Abu Dhabi: Al Qudra Holding on Saturday announced a Two million euros deal which will enable Al Ain Sports Club to become the first and only delegate of the UAE and the Gulf region in the inaugural Superleague Formula championship.
Al Ain will join prestigious European clubs AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven, FC Porto, and Olympiacos as well as Brazilian rivals Flamengo and Corinthians in the Superleague Formula which will be held in Europe from August 30 to November 23, 2008.

“The FIA World Motor Sport Council has approved this brand new global sports competition, which will touch down on six major circuits across Europe this year. We are in talks with some top British clubs and will be roping in a few while teams like |Mancheter United may join next year,'' said Alex Andreau, President of the Superleague Formula.
“Each club will race with a 750-horsepower, V12 powered single-seater car that flagrantly displays its colors. Each championship round will feature two 50-minute races, each one with a pit stop. The teams will race for the cash prize of 1 million euros every weekend,'' he said.
