Dubai: Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC), on Sunday received at his office in Emirates Towers Lu Bing, China's Minister of Sport and President of the Chinese Olympic Committee.
Shaikh Ahmad discussed with the Chinese minister relations between the UAE NOC and the Chinese Olympic Committee and ways to strengthen them. They also discussed measures required to further strenghten co-operation between the two committees.
Shaikh Ahmad congratulated Lu Bing for the successful hosting of the Olympic Games in Beijing last year. He also expressed to the Chinese minister his anticipation for China's support if the UAE bid to host the 2018 Asian Games.
The Chinese minister congratulated Shaikh Ahmad for his election as the UAE NOC president. He praised the great efforts done by the UAE government and sports corporations to develop sports in the country. He also said that the sports infrustructure in the UAE is one of the best in Asia and the Chinese were eager to develop relations in the field of sports with the UAE.
The Chinese minister invited Shaikh Ahmad to visit China at any time. Shaikh Ahmad thanked him and accepted the invitation promising to fulfil it in the near future.
The meeting was attended by Yousuf Al Sarkal, NOC first vice president, Ebrahim Abdul Malek, secretary general of General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare, Mattar Al Tayer, vice president Dubai Sports Council, and other officials.
