Dubai: Mahmoud Tannir enjoyed a successful day when the Motorcity UAE Sportbikes championship returned after a two-month hiatus at Dubai Autodrome yesterday.

Competing in the NGK UAE National Race Day seven, Tannir guided his Vendetta Racing Triumph Daytona 675 to two well earned victories in the 600 class. He was pushed hard by Erikas Savickas on a Yamaha R6, who had to settle for second in both races, while Alan Boyter was third twice on the other Triumph Daytona.

Tannir now has a healthy lead in the championships standings with a couple of race days left in the season.

Abdul Aziz Bin Ladin riding a BMW S1000RR raced here for the first time this season and took a pair of wins.

The Rookie Cup saw Chris Morley take maximum points in the first race, with Surya Raja winning the second.

Rob Barff and Leon Price steered the AUH Motorsport-prepared Ferrari 458 Italia to victory in round six of the GTA Class of the NGK UAE GT Championship.
