Schmid takes seventh round of GT3 challenge
Austrian edges out pole starter Al Faisal
Riyadh: Austrian Clemens Schmid won round seven of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East after edging out Abdul Aziz Al Faisal yesterday.
Al Faisal, who started from pole, still extended his championship lead on home territory at Reem International Circuit outside Riyadh. While the Saudi driver tried hard to find a way past Schmid after losing the lead early on, he was unable to make any headway, although his consolation was that he moved 10 points clear of his nearest challenger in the 12-round series, fellow-Saudi Bandar Alesayi, who finished third.
