DUBAI: The world's best Freestyle Motocross (FMX) riders — Red Bull X-Fighters — will be back in action when Dubai hosts the inaugural round of the six-stop 2012 World Tour on April 13 at the Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence.

Regional communications manager for Red Bull Middle East and Africa Alberto Chahoud said: "We are proud to see Dubai hosting the opening round of the Red Bull X-Fighters international series for the second consecutive year.

"We have a larger track and a bigger crowd and a more exciting show and this is our promise for the 2012 edition," he added.

The world's most important FMX competition will also feature in Glen Helen, USA; Istanbul; Madrid; Munich and Sydney.

Chahoud also added they hope to see a local rider compete in this amazing event.

"We hope to have one in next year and we are confident that we can discover a rider from this region. We have very famous riders in Motocross series but we don't have any in the X-Fighters so far but I'm confident that we will have one soon."

Last year in the inaugural edition, Spain's Danny Torres emerged winner ahead of Andrea Villa and Nate Adams. He continued his good work to claim the World Series title claiming an overall 390 points.

Tom Gray, events director of organisers Blink Events, said: "It was an amazing experience last year. The riders love coming to Dubai after it was held for the first time last year."

The event was a sell-out in the inaugural edition with a huge crowd turning out to witness the "Flying Bikes." "We have learnt a lot of things from last year and we are working on further improving the event. There will be a lot of changes and more excitement for the spectators," Gray added.
