- McLaren's Fernando Alonso is the only active driver to have finished the Bahrain Grand Prix with points. He has won the race on two occasions - in 2005 and 2006 - and taken a sixth place in its inaugural year in 2004.
- This is Alonso's 90th start. After 89 F1 starts, Michael Schumacher had 23 victories and 49 podiums, compared to Alonso's 16 wins and 39 podiums.
