Officials say new Yas Island F1 circuit will be finished on time
The Yas Island Formula 1 car circuit will be ready to host the final round of the Formula 1 World Championship next year despite the change of dates of the championship.
Abu Dhabi: The Yas Island Formula 1 car circuit will be ready to host the final round of the Formula 1 World Championship next year despite the change of dates of the championship made by Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), according to a top official in Yas Marina Circuit.
The FIA has brought the date of the race two weeks ahead to - for November 1, 2009, instead of November 15 - but that does not bother the officials in YMC.
"Actually, the YMC will be completed and finished some time before the new date of the championship." Philippe Gurdjian, CEO of YMC, told Gulf News.
"The new date is not worrying us and we will surely be ready to host the final round of the F-I World Championship in November 1 next year.
Even before the change of the dates, our plans were to have the YMC finished before November 1.
