Khalid edges out Salman in second race

Starting second he pushed in front and maintained lead to win event

Abu Dhabi: Prince Khalid Al Faisal of Saudi Arabia concluded a satisfying weekend as he finished at the top in the second race of the Chevrolet Supercars Middle East Championship at the Yas Marina Circuit yesterday.

Prince Khalid, who started second from the grid, pushed his way to the top at the onset and managed to hold on to end ahead of Bahrain's Shaikh Salman Al Khalifa and defending champion Fahad Mussallam.

Mohammad Al Mahmoud, secretary general of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, James Hogan of Etihad Airways and Hussain Hassani of General Motors were among the officials who presented the trophies to the winners after the race.

Starting from second, Prince Khalid was immediately in control at the top with pole position starter Shaikh Salman and defending champion Mussallam in hot pursuit.

"I knew I had the car and speed to take me to the top, so all I did was to concentrate and keep my focus in keeping my lead safe," Prince Khalid told Gulf News.
