Al Ain Mohammad Al Daheri continued his dominant start to the season by cruising to win in Race 1 and the pre-final of the third round of Al Ain Raceway Kart Club Championship (AARKC).
His closest challenger was Ali Al Darmaki, who struggled with pace in the early stages but began to show signs of his ultimate pace as the finals loomed.
In the professional Rotax race classes, licence-holders competed as usual in four age/performance groups while non-licence-holders appeared en masse to participate in the rental class, which was at capacity.
Awesome threesome
The senior Max class saw some of the closest racing on show with three drivers standing out from the crowd. Maurits Knopjes, Scott Latham and Hasher Maktoum, all previous/current champions, were in awesome form as they battled it out for the win.
Despite some tangles in the qualifiers with both Maurits and Hasher affected, the final was to hang in the balance until the chequered flag.
A superb recovery drive from Hasher brought him within striking distance of both Maurits and Scott, with nothing to choose between the three of them, in terms of pace and performance.
On the same grid, the older Max Masters were having their own close battle. This time, though, it was for second as Andrew Fuller eased away from his main rivals to win the class.
