A video has emerged of a skier miraculously escaping a 500 metre plunge down an almost vertical mountainside.
Footage reveals every grunt of pain Ian McIntosh experiences as he tumbles down the slope in the Alaskan Neacola mountain range.
Watch it here:
As professional skier McIntosh’s gear goes flying, the pain he is in is clear, recorded via a microphone in his helmet.
Eventually he comes to a halt and shouts: “I'm OK, I'm OK!”
McIntosh lost control after hitting a trench early in the run, according to the caption of the video, uploaded to YouTube by Teton Gravity Research.
“From there, my slough took over and there was no way to stop,” he said.
“I pulled my airbag to help prevent against any possible trauma injuries as I tumbled to the bottom.”
