Dubai: Jason Daswani and Mihir Shah triumphed in the Nissan Under 8 chess championship held at Reef Mall with a tally of 6 points from 7 games.
Both juniors were impressive and Mihir a class 3 student of Modern High School Dubai, reeled off a winning streak of 6 games in a row. Jason completed the tournament with a winning streak of 6 games.
In the crucial 7th round, Jason outwitted Mihir in a two knights defence.
Jason started aggressively and his knight wrecked havoc in black's camp.
Jason followed up with brilliant attack to grab the initiative and the match in cavalier fashion.
Jason comes from a family of chess players and is a class 2 student of Jumeirah primary school was in excellent form and triumphed convincingly.
The Daswani brothers hogged the lime light with Jason tying for the title and Shaun holding the grandmaster to a draw in simul display Grandmaster Elshan Moraidabadi ranked no 2 in Iran gave a simultaneous display at Reef Mall on 60 boards.
