Moscow: Vambat, ridden by A Kappushev, looks good to land the His Highness the UAE President Cup Hydra-Moscow Cup Purebred Arabians (Group 2) over six furlongs as the son of Banzai from Vavilona lines up for honours at the Moscow Racecourse this afternoon.
The first of the six races on the card kicks off at 1,30pm.
The three-year-old colt is trained by A Kappushev in Russia and has every chance to smash the competitive field of 11 runners to claim the 100,000 roubles in prize money.
"He is training well and the distance should suit him," a confident trainer said. "He won his last two outings in good style and should repeat in today's challenge," he added.
"There's nothing to worry about. I know the race has attracted some quality horses like the Kurbanov-trained Bank. He has been showing impressive form over the last two seasons and a winner of big races.
"He's one year older and more mature, but my horse has the advantage of a light weight. I think Bank may come very close, but my horse is going to win it," he added.
Other horses that are expected to make their marks include the three-year-old son of Gamin de Carrere, Burger, in the hands of A V Kirshin.
Up to jockey
It has been reported that he came out very well from his last start and could turn the tables should the jockey managed to put him in the clear in the early stages of the tough challenge.
