Dubai:  Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance, on Thursday paid an inspection visit to Meydan City, the most important new business, sporting and lifestyle destination in Dubai.

Accompanied by Saeed Al Tayer, Chairman of Meydan, Shaikh Hamdan toured the sports, leisure, business and tourist faculties of the mega city.

Nestled four kilometres from the mouth of Dubai Creek, Meydan City is founded on simple guiding principles of partnership, community and sporting excellence. A simple translation of the word Meydan means ‘a meeting place'.

Cityscape

In keeping with this philosophy, Meydan has created an interconnected cityscape of four distinct districts where the worlds of business, sport and elegant living intertwine to enhance, encourage and benefit each other.

It sets new standards in luxury living, inspirational business culture and spectacular entertainment.

Shaikh Hamdan toured the new iconic horseracing development, which will feature a 3.5 million square feet world-class grandstand. Shaikh Hamdan took a car to go through the 1.6-kilometre long and 355-foot wide racecourse, which is tipped as one of the world's longest racing facilities.

Derived from an Arabic word which when translated, describes a place where people congregate and compete — Meydan includes 300 room five-star hotel, more than 10 fine-dining restaurants, a covered car parking for 10,000, the Meydan Museum and Gallery, IMAX Theatre and the Dubai Racing Club and Emirates Racing Authority offices.

Meydan Racecourse is in close proximity to Meydan City (Horizons) — a self-contained community consisting of high-end commercial and luxury residential plots, retail outlets and air-conditioned arcades with canal, waterfront and promenade views.
