Dubai: Godolphin’s former Dubai World Cup (G1) favourite Hunter’s Light is on course for a shot at the Group 1 S$3 million (Dh8.9 million) Singapore Airlines International Cup at Kranji on May 19.

The son of Dubawi, who finished seventh behind Animal Kingdom in the $10 million (Dh36.7 million) race at Meydan, travelled from Dubai to Singapore on Tuesday ahead of the ten furlong contest, which has attracted some top class contenders from all around the world.

Hunter’s Light is trained by Saeed Bin Surour, who won the International Cup in 2002 with Grandera. The Emirati handler last saddled a runner in the race in 2009, when Balius finished seventh to Gloria De Campeao.

Ten supplementary entries were added to the nomination list for the race, including Meandre, Igugu and Wigmore Hall, all of whom participated at the Dubai World Cup meeting on March 31.

Also joining the nominations was Macau galloper Elderly Paradise and the locally-trained Nandowra from the Michael Freedman stable.

One of the ante-post favourites is French star Cirrus Des Aigles, who is currently the highest-rated horse in training in the world.

Meanwhile, the KrisFlyer Sprint (G1) has also attracted a star-studded line-up featuring 12 individual Group 1 winners.

The Singapore-trained winners of the last two editions, Rocket Man and Ato, have both been entered by trainer Patrick Shaw.

South Africa’s Shea Shea, who recently broke the 1,000m course record at Meydan in the Meydan Sprint, is also in the mix, together with defending champion Mr Big and Singapore Horse of the Year Super Easy.
