Miss Andretti in line for sprint double

Ascot: Australian sprinting sensation Miss Andretti will attempt to complete the sprint double at Royal Ascot when she takes her place in Saturday's Golden Jubilee Stakes.

Legendary trainer Lee Freedman's super mare Miss Andretti ran away with the King's Stand Stakes on the opening day on Tuesday. One of a team of four top-drawer sprinters who travelled all the way from Australia, the diminutive six-year-old smashed the track record for five furlongs when streaking to a compelling victory.

Fellow Australian's sprinters Magnus and last year's winner Takeover Target finished third and fourth. The fourth runner, Bentley Biscuit, came back jarred up.

All the European sprinters, with the exception of Dandy Man, were made to look ordinary. Freedman, who trained the great Makybe Diva to win the Melbourne Cup, said: "We wanted the world to see how good she is. That was an awesome display.

"She will now go back to the paddock for a couple of days and she won't even have a saddle on her. She'll tell us if she wants to run on Saturday. She probably will."
