Dubai: Kiaran McLaughlin, a former three-time champion trainer in the UAE, says he is 'looking forward' to returning to Dubai to compete at next Saturday's Dubai World Cup meeting.

McLaughlin was based at the Red Stables in Al Quoz for 11 years between 1993 and 2003, before he returned to his native America.

Championship winner in successive years from 1995-1997 McLaughlin will have two runners at the $21 million meeting.

Mustanfar will run in the $5 million Dubai Sheema Classic (Group 1) while Invasor will line-up to contest the $2million (Dh7.35 million) UAE Derby (Group 2), the richest Derby in the world.

McLaughlin, who won over 15 pattern races during his term in Dubai, trained several top horses owned by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and his brother Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and Industry.

"I'm looking forward to going back," McLaughlin told the Dubai Racing Club weblog. "My wife and I are headed back and it's going to be great to see all my ex-employees as well as my bosses, Shaikh Mohammad and Shaikh Hamdan. It's a lovely place."

Mustanfar, a five-year-old son of Unbridled, is a multiple Group 3 winner who has placed in Grade 1 company. On his most recent start he was fourth in the Gulfstream Park Breeders' Cup Turf Stakes (Group 1) last month. It was his first outing after an eight-month break.

Invasor, who challenges for the UAE Derby, is the winner of the Uruguayan Triple Crown in 2005. However, while he is undefeated in five starts, he has never raced outside Uruguay.
