London: Kerrin McEvoy, second jockey at Godolphin to Frankie Dettori for the past four seasons, is to return to his native Australia to ride there for His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

McEvoy won the 2004 English St Leger on Rule of Law and has a total of 33 wins from 192 rides in major races for Godolphin.

The 27-year-old becomes the retained jockey for Shaikh Mohammad's newly-purchased string of horses in Australia and will ride mainly in Sydney and Melbourne.

Racing manager Simon Crisford told the Godolphin website: "He has proved himself to be a world-class international jockey. Godolphin will not be replacing Kerrin and there are no plans to retain a second jockey."

Godolphin has had a disappointing season in big races.

Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien has held sway for their main rivals, the Coolmore operation. O'Brien secured his 15th Group One win of the season when

Mastercraftsman won the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday and he remains on course to beat his own record of 23 Group One victories in 2001.
