Dubai: Godolphin's Electrocutionist stormed to victory in the 11th running of the $6 million Dubai World Cup race last night.

"I am very proud to win the race," His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said.

"Thanks to God it was a good result. The horse had been training very well and we were expecting a good result. I knew he was a good horse and a special horse," said Shaikh Mohammad, the driving force behind both the Dubai World Cup and the Godolphin stables, which owns Electrocutionist.

Electrocutionist, an ex-Italian champion who was bought by Godolphin at the end of last season, supplied Godolphin with their fourth success in the race after Dubai Millennium, Street Cry, and Moon Ballad ('03).

Given a brilliant ride by Frankie Dettori, Electrocutionist ended a 10-year jinx in the Dubai World Cup when he roared past American challenger Brass Hat. In previous runnings no horse breaking from the first stall has ever finished among the top three in the race. "He's a great champion and this is only the beginning," said Godolphin trainer Saeed Bin Surour.
