Charpy eyes President's Cup with Munnadam

Abu Dhabi: Frenchman Erwan Charpy, the in–form trainer, returns to the capital tonight, hoping to add the His Highness The President's Cup to the National Day Cup race he won here last week.
Charpy's Munnadam, under Richard Hills, tackles a strong list of runners in the 7–furlong President's Cup, a Listed race for Thoroughbreds, and the 6–year–old gelding is bound to garner a lot of support among the Pick Six followers.
Charpy won the National Day Cup with Emirates Gold last week and extended his winning form with Golden Arrow, winning in Nad Al Sheba on Thursday, while on Friday, he saddled Rampallion, a smart winner in the Jebel Ali Stakes. Munnadam will be among the favourites today.
After a poor run on Dubai World Cup night in the Gulf News Golden Shaheen on dirt, Munnadam returns this time to tackle the seven furlongs on turf, a surface he enjoys better success and better rating on.
Though it will be the first run for Munnadam, the fact that the stable has been in red hot form could see the Charpy runner in the final frame.
With quite a few promising runners in the fray, the 2006 winner of this race, King Jock, comes with strong credentials and this Anthony Manuel runner has the benefit of a run here this season.
King Jock finished third to Emirates Gold last week and is expected to pose a stiff challenge under Richard Burke today.
Ali Rashid Al Raihe's Montpellier tried to make all the running a finished second last week and with a drop in distance by a furlong, is expected to run another good race today.
