Victory at the AR Golf Club

Elka Hillricks and Steve Bennett were crowned overall champions in their respective Stableford and Gross Divisions at Arabian Ranches Golf Club on Saturday.

Dubai: Elka Hillricks and Steve Bennett were crowned overall champions in their respective Stableford and Gross Divisions at Arabian Ranches Golf Club on Saturday.

Ninety two players competed in the 11th Dubai Duty Free UGA Seniors Cup, was open to men 50 years and above and Ladies 45 years and above. Each player received a 7/8 handicap allowance over the challenging links course.

The card of Elka Hillricks, playing off a handicap of 23 and receiving 20 strokes, was impressive, with six gross pars and a gross birdie at the par five third. A front nine of 25 points followed by a back nine of 19 gave her a win by six Stableford points from Leon Pretorious.

Steve Bennett fired a four over par 76 to nudge out Rai Legnar. Bennett's last three holes of level par against Legnar's three over par on holes 16, 17 and 18 was the deciding factor.
