Sharif clear winner at 14th Dubai Duty Free UAE Nationals Cup

Esmail Sharif lifted the 14th Dubai Duty Free UAE Nationals Cup at Emirates Golf Club on Sunday.

Dubai: Esmail Sharif lifted the 14th Dubai Duty Free UAE Nationals Cup at Emirates Golf Club on Sunday.

Sharif carded 37 points to claim the title by a three-point margin. In scorching temperatures, he performed with supreme assurance over the Majlis course signing for a gross 73 and 37-point tally off ¾ handicap allowance.

His card included a quartet of birdies coming on the 5th, 8th, 10th and 13th holes.

A trio of challengers all finished on 34 points with Abdullah Al Marzouqi claiming the runners-up place, Sohail Al Marzouqi taking third spot.

Faisal Al Marzouqi was adjudged the best junior.

Also among the prizes were Saeed Malik for his gross 76 and longest drive on the 16th hole with Saleh Al Ameri clinching nearest the pin on the seventh hole.

Handing out the trophies, Dubai Duty Free's director, corporate communications, Salah Tahlak said: "Thanks to all participants who took part in this annual event inspite of the hot weather conditions and also thanks to my team at Dubai Duty Free and to the Emirates Golf Club for making this event an enjoyable one."
