Quraishi wins a thriller on countback

Sharjah: April's edition of the Orient Travel Thai Airways Monthly Medal at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club was extremely close, with golfers tying for the lead.

Waseem Quraishi scooped the overall prize on countback in round seven.

Scottish golfer William Neilson finished as runner-up while third place went to Roy Holmes with a superb knock of 78 gross.

With only one round left to play in the Tourism Authority of Thailand's Road to Thailand Order of Merit, the husband and wife pairing of Normita Demesa and Golden Kim have swapped positions, leaving Kim ahead by only two points.

A strong finish from Firdaus Bin Idris leaves him in third position with nearly ten points over Hassan Yazdi.

The top two looked to have all but secured seats to Thailand, but Firdaus, Yazdi, Holmes and Verma will all look to try to fight their way into that third position.
