McOmish claims BMW medal win

Dubai: The July BMW Monthly Medal over the Majlis course produced some fantastic scoring with eight of the seventy-five strong field breaking par.

David McOmish clinched the Division A title (handicap 0-14) with a superb nett 67. The highlight of his round was a birdie two on the 178-yard 15th hole. His superior back nine held off the challenge of Dalip Tripathi who also signed for a 5-under par total of 67.

Three players carded a nett 69 but Tommy Johnsen's better inward half sealed third place from Ed Hesson and David Watt.

Matthew Turner boasted a gross 70 to take best gross of the day.

Performance of day

Sean Wilson produced the performance of the day with a nett 62 in Division B (handicap 15-28). He birdied his opening hole and played well from then on to claim his first BMW Monthly Medal. Sammy Eldin came runners-up with a nett 70 and Kor Goedendorp third with his nett 73.
