Dubai: The forthcoming UAE National Golf Championship has received a big boost with Lexus renewing their sponsorship for the premier event on the UAE golfing calendar.

The 36-hole championship will be played at the Four Seasons Golf Club on January 2-3, promising to unfold another intriguing battle in the sun.

Earlier this year, Ahmad Al Mosharrekh survived a compelling fight-back from Khalid Yousuf, the only UAE national player who plays off a scratch handicap, to inscribe his name on the glittering trophy.

With a new board, spearheaded by Shaikh Fahim Al Qasimi, the federation now intends to hold the championship on a bigger scale. They lauded Lexus-Al Futtaim Motors for their unflinching support to the championship since day one.

"If the profile of the UAE National Golf Championship has grown over the years, it's primarily because of Lexus," said Saeed Albudoor, general manager of the Emirates Golf Federation. "Their name has been synonymous with the championship."
