Khalid Yousuf wins UAE Nationals Cup

Dubai: Khalid Yousuf won the 19th annual Dubai Duty Free UAE Nationals Cup with a gross 73 and 36 stableford points at Emirates Golf Club’s Faldo Course on Saturday.

The UAE player birdied on the first and third hole to see him out two under par, but a trio of bogeys from the 15th resulted in a gross 73.

His closest challengers Tariq Al Suwadi, Faisal Al Sayegh and Saif Thabet all carded 34 points. Al Suwadi clinched second due to a better back nine, while Al Sayegh took third. Thabet’s 76 saw him claim best gross.

Abdullah Al Qubaisi won the junior division with 29 points, while Mohammad Darwish and Ahmad Al Mazrui won prizes for nearest the pin and longest drive.

Salah Tahlak, Dubai Duty Free’s senior vice-president of corporate, congratulated the winners and expressed his hopes for a bumper turnout to celebrate the event’s 20th anniversary next year.
