Mark Ingrey, one of the most popular golf professionals in the UAE over the last two years, left the UAE for new pastures last night in a blaze of glory after guiding his team to the Emirates PGA Team Championship title.
Carding a two best from four score of 130 around the Nad Al Sheba Club, Ingrey's team of Stephen Kelly, Nic Ekendahl and Mike Danner managed a one-stroke winning margin.
With a combined handicap total of 31, the Montgomerie-based team managed 9 net birdies, one net eagle and only 3 dropped shots on a wind swept afternoon.
Emirates Golf Club's Andrew Whitelaw guided his team to second place with 131, an excellent score considering the conditions. Brad Sutherland (JAGRS) and Ken McIntyre's (TMD) well spirited teams completed the top 4 positions.
Jeff O'Brien's (Pro-Sports) three-man team propped up the pile, coming in the last place.
However, consolation was offered to them in the form of complimentary golf lessons that were given to all the team members.
At the presentation ceremony, a number of generous prizes were offered both for teams' performances and on a raffle basis.
Ingrey thanked the Nad Al Sheba Club particularly Jerry Kilby and Julian Danby for their support of the Emirates PGA Championship.
The Club had generously donated some wonderful prizes.
He also thanked his team members for their solid all-round efforts and bid a final farewell to all his fellow EPGA Professionals.
