Dubai: The draw for the Gulf News Seniors Open Golf Championship at the Arabian Ranches Golf Club has now been published on the home page of www.arabianranchesgolfdubai.com

The tournament is an individual stroke play event for male amateur golfers in the UAE, aged 50 years or over to be held on Thursday December 11. Entries were accepted on a first come first served basis with TNT and Xerox sponsoring the championship.

The tournament has been deemed a Handicap Qualifier by the organising Club with a 12.30 pm shotgun start.

Arabian Ranches' Elliott Gray said: "We have been overwhelmed with entries to date since our launch of this event some three weeks ago and are very delighted to accommodate a full field of 92 players."

Meanwhile, the golf club will be hosting the final of the Rivoli Monthly Medal of the Year today, which is the last chance for ten male members to qualify for the the 2008/09 Men's Singles Matchplay Championship.

Club champion

The maximum field of 84 players will compete in the 12.30pm shotgun start over the Baker-Finch Layout. In the Men's Division 59 players are competing in Division "A" (0 - 12) and 13 players take part in Division "B" (13 - 28). Twelve women will play in the Elite Ladies Division.

Several of the clubs' top players still have to qualify including ex-club champion and captain Nick Hopwood, Steve Bennett and current club champion John Mills.

In the Ladies Division Jo Schoeman (4), Adele McKelvey (3) and Ashley Anderson (8) are favourites for the gross title.
