Gulf News seniors golf event starts today

The 2008 Gulf News Men's Seniors Open Golf Championship will be started today by a 12.30pm shotgun at Arabian Ranches Golf Club.

Dubai: The 2008 Gulf News Men's Seniors Open Golf Championship will be started today by a 12.30pm shotgun at Arabian Ranches Golf Club.

This tournament is an individual stroke play event for male amateur golfers in the UAE, aged 50 years or over, the event is supported by TNT and Xerox.

The tournament has been deemed a handicap qualifier by the organising club with play over the 6,531 Blue Tee Course which is in very good condition.

Duleep George, Executive Director Marketing & Sales, said: "We are delighted to be supporting this event for the second year in succession. The Seniors Golf tournament is an ideal platform for a special segment of our readers and subscribers and will once again encourage a great response.

Favourites for the gross title are home player Steve Bennett who was runner up in 2007 (ARGC- 2), Mike Massie (ADGC - 2), Rai Legnar (EGC - 4) and the on form Wayne Morris (ARGC - 4)
