Abu Dhabi: Fans present at round two of this weekend's $2 million Abu Dhabi Golf Championship got an added bonus yesterday as extended National Course play saw some of the world's best golfers tackle more than 22 holes.

As Thursday's weather delays left many of the opening rounds unfinished, the quartets were required to complete them yesterday morning before heading back for another 18 holes following a break.

And with the likes of world No 2, Sergio Garcia, former champion Paul Casey, young-gun, Rory McIlroy, and tour veterans, Colin Montgomerie and Miguel Angel Jiminez, all having to putt extra holes, spectators got more than they bargained for.

One local golf enthusiast, Billy McGrory - who was following Spanish contender Garcia around the National Course - said: "Having the chance to see Sergio, my favourite player, play 22 holes in one day is brilliant. I've saw him sink an eagle putt on 10 yesterday, let's hope there are many more to come!"

Another fan, Andre Lammers, who flies in from South Africa every year for the event, added: "The field is the best I've ever seen in Abu Dhabi."
