Dubai: Tim Evans turned in a tidy performance to win the Orient Travel Golf Challenge at the Emirates Golf Club at the weekend.
He carded a solid 37 points at the Majlis course to beat his nearest rival Bayer Khan by one shot in the annual event which followed the individual stableford format with three-quarter handicap allowance.
The day, however, belonged to Evans and Bayer Khan, who together accounted for most of the prizes at stake. The team of Evans which comprised Andrew Caskelow, Qamar Rashid and Keith Homes finished a creditable runners-up with 80 points, three behind the winning team that consisted of Robin Kadyan, Bayer Khan and Sharad Arora.Evans also won the nearest to the pin prize on the seventh hole, with James McKenna striking a superb tee shot on the 15th hole. Bayer Khan swept the longest drive awards on the third and the 15th hole.
Highlights
One of the major highlights of the event was the stunning performance of Emirates Golf Federation's Order of Merit leader Michael Harradine.
The 27-year-old, who plays off a plus one handicap, carded a brilliant one-under par gross score.
